Why Shop With Shade Station
Aside from being passionate about designer sunglasses, glasses and watches, we also strive to support important causes. Founded in 2010, Walking With the Wounded supports vulnerable veterans to uphold their independence and helps them to integrate back into society. Walking With The Wounded offers assistance through their programmes to veterans who may be physically, mentally or socially disadvantaged by their service, and assists them in beginning new careers outside of the military. This includes providing support for those veterans who may be homeless, creating independance for both them and their families.
The Cumbrian Challenge is Walking With The Wounded's fun and testing annual fundraising event in the Lake District. With every team that takes part, another wounded veteran is supported back into work and independance. After completing the Cumbrian Challenge last year, our customer service advisor Loraine has signed up to participate again this year on 18th May in her team of four.
Loraine's team 'Strength Station' will be walking multiple peaks known as the 'Tougher' route, totalling in 30km which will take around 5-11 hours. The team says "the event itself is a huge challenge, there is not only the physical endurance and stamina to think about, but the emotional impact and the teamwork needed to survive. We believe whole heartedly this is a great cause to raise funds for, and between us we have the great honour of knowing many active and retired military service personnel."
If you would like to help Strength Station reach their goal of £2000, please click here. The team are extremeley greatful for all the support and donations received, and thank those in advance who take the time to support this cause.
